The Meeting with Stanley

Finally, the poster is ready! As you can see it’s the story of a man whose life long dream is contained in a box that self-combusts as he is slowly loosing his mind. The story is told from the perspective of his phone. Ok that’s not the story, go to our coming soon page if you want to know more. Also check out our new promo video, and we hope to see you soon, at the theater or elsewhere!

Alex Estrada; Running from the Law

After one year at Upright Citizens, Alex has evolved into a brigade of his own – a fire brigade! You will probably have to see the show to understand that, but  rest assured, you will laugh when that moment comes. Comfortable with sketch comedy, Alex has only one purpose in life…to entertain you no matter if he is in or out of character.

Justin Waldo; We Know Where He Is

As a Shakespearean actor, Justin Waldo is extremely well-versed in the art of speaking a langage that very few understand and even fewer enjoy. We decided to show him the light with The Meeting with Stanley; as only a journey through the absurd could cure him of his love for dusty old plays. In all seriousness, we feel extremely honored to count him as a cast member and a friend. He is pure passion embodied in a handsome vessel, what more could you ask for?

Christy Richardson: The Incandescent

We worked with Christy Richardson on our previous workshop, and it is and absolute pleasure to have her be a part of our upcoming production. The second you put her on a stage, this friendly and reserved redhead will unleash her inner acting fire that burns hotter than a million suns. Warning: Not everybody can keep up with her talent.

Keith Chandler: the Chosen One

Keith had only one thing in mind – to destroy his competition. His eyes were ablaze with the intensity of a determined soul. All that he wanted was to show us how sharply his wit was honed, and  to offer his allegiance to our cause.
We gladly accepted his gift. EIM will use him to eradicate sorrow and sadness for good, starting right here in New York City. He will be our beacon of laughter. Be ready…or don’t – it doesn’t even matter. It’s coming.

Pace Yourself Lloyd

It is time for people to meet the playwright. It wasn’t that long ago that we decided on a play and in that short time span, Lloyd has already been an extremely generous and collaborative partner.
Some people have comedy within them, Lloyd has that. After putting this show up we just might publish a book that consists solely of the emails between Lloyd and Edge In Motion, a gold mine.
Sometimes people forgive insanity in the name of talent; in this case it is an absolute pleasure for us to enjoy his absurdist creation, while dealing with someone inherently funny and simply delightful.

Rehearsal Family Style

Yesterday was a great day to reflect upon logic within a crazy universe. What is absurd, and how do you create it? Is it like building a skyscraper that is sturdy and strong from the 2nd floor up, but then you slowly realize that the 1st level is made out of papier-mâché?
Our cast members – gently guided by our very own maestro – had the chance to reflect upon what constitutes the reality surrounding their characters beyond what is written. What is true to them? And what are their intimate desires and motivations at any given time. Failing to answer most of those questions in one single night, we ended up drinking quite a bit of wine…

Non, rien de Riendeau

Sane, talented, adorable – Enough said. Rachel Riendeau is now part of the adventure that unfolds before your very eyes here at Edge In Motion. She sometimes tweets under the moniker @miss_double_R and also occasionally is seen reacting to pop culture classics (you will have to look for that yourself). We are very proud to welcome this strong addition to our funny and lovable cast. For those of you who do not know what “non, rien de rien” refers to in the title, feel free to listen to some Edith Piaf.

Quiet on Set: Shelby-Allison Hibbs is here

Gracing us with her talent, Shelby-Allison Hibbs will be directing The Meeting with Stanley as well as designing the set. Get to know her by visiting her website, or just trust our judgment! She is currently working at the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey. We are very glad she could take on such a big part of the project. As we say here at Edge In Motion: Surround yourself with talented people, and if you can help it, make sure they have multiple skill sets to keep costs down…That is a joke, we don’t say that, not out loud.

Found it! “The Meeting with Stanley”

We are pleased and proud to announce the play that we have selected! We will be producing The Meeting with Stanley by Lloyd Pace for its theatrical debut at Urban Stages in January. Congratulations, and a huge thank you to all the very talented playwrights who submitted their brain children to Edge In Motion. We had an absolutely delightful time reading all of them, and hopefully, we will get the chance to work with some of you in the near future.
